GF Machining Solutions demonstrated equipment for mold and processing shop applications at Eastec 2021, and the company stated that these equipment can increase production and reduce energy consumption.

The equipment on display included the 5-axis Mikron MILL S 200 U and Form E 350 compact EDM machines.

Mikron MILL S 200 U combines linear, rotary, and rotary axes, which the company says allows workshops to reduce production time through single-part clamping and 5-axis machining strategies. The machine also has an automatic machine calibration (AMC) and cooling system to ensure the highest possible accuracy and excellent part surface finish to reduce the need for secondary manual part polishing operations.

GF Machining Solutions also demonstrated the Form E 350 EDM, which the company claims is the smallest EDM machine on the market. Its sturdy C-axis structure, cross table and cast iron frame provide high stability and force reduction, helping to maintain a precise spark gap between the part and the electrode. Regardless of part weight or dielectric volume, the machine can provide consistent accuracy. The integrated glass scale can maintain repeatability for a long time without recalibration, and there is no need to find any errors due to backlash and wear in the traditional screw system.

The latest generation of Intelligent Speed Generator (ISPG) on the Form E350 excels in excellent surface finish and precision applications of any conductive material. It overcomes common process challenges of copper electrodes, including electrode wear caused by electrical discharge. ISPG increased the processing speed by 40% and reduced corner wear by 50%.
